It is crunch time for Revive Church…T minus 37 days
37 days…that’s it.
The past few days I have writing blurbs if you will for our mailer going out at the beginning of Sept and various other tid bits here and there and that was probably one of the hardest things I had to do this far. Writing 4 sentences to me 4 hours…yes you read correctly, 4 sentences in 4 hours. Why did it take me so long to write so little?
I DIDN’T WANT TO LIE
I have seen many a church mailer/flyer/val pak ad which stated:
“<insert church name> a church for you!” (I couldn’t say that because I don’t know if that is true)
“Come hear life changing worship and message” (ugh…that’s a lot of pressure)
“<insert church name>, where we are all family” (There are some family members I don’t like)
Now I am not being cynical at all…I want to be truthful.
I want to be honest and not promise on things that I can not keep. I didn’t want to build a HYPE MACHINE. It’s hard not hyping the launch of Revive Church though. While I do know that we will be a different kind of church, while I do know that our worship will be unique, and that our strategy is specific to us and to the Austin area…
I know of all this…I do, I really do…but I do not want to hype it with mear words.
I WANT OUR ACTIONS AS A CHURCH TO BEEN SEEN…not words heard
Don’t believe the HYPE* (Exaggerated or extravagant claims)
