Have you ever been bored with life? I am mean straight up “Man…is this all life has to offer? Is this it?” Well there is hope for you my friend; you can have a life full of excitement, purpose, and meaning. You may ask yourself “How do I get that kind of life?” Simple, I say; it won’t cost a dime, but it will cost your life… As David Crowder puts it “I’m finding everything I’ll ever need, by giving up gaining everything”
It’s hard to let go of the things you hold dear to you. Well… that and scary, not knowing what to do. I faced that situation back in 2000. I was working for Applied Materials at the age of 23, I was single, making great money, great apartment, new truck, living close to family but not too close, but I was miserable. Nothing kept me content for very long. I was in a dry time in my walk with Christ, but I knew; even at a young age that I was called to do something for God. At 23 I was already at the point that this can’t be all there is to life. I told God “If this is it, if this is all there is; then I don’t want to be a part of it.” Then something happened, I can’t describe what it was, I tell people it was like God gave me a spiritual back hand to the face, but whatever it was, it changed my life forever. The moment of truth came. In my quite time, I could hear him ask me. “You want more out of life, more of me?”, “YES” I replied. “Then let go”, “Let go? Let go of what?” I asked. “Let go of everything”, and with that I knew what I had to do.
It’s not easy to let go of your life. I quit a job I loved, the lifestyle I was used to; moved away from close family, but God showed me so much more. The greatest is…well I will use a quote from my spiritual mentor”The best is yet to come”. I have seen God do wonderful things these last 8 years in ministry. However I know God is faithful to do more. He has blessed me with a beautiful and wonderful wife, beyond great children; an awesome family support system, and an awesome church home. I have never been in need of anything. God has provided it all. I may not get rich doing what I am doing, but I have never been happier. I have told the youth at times. “I can’t believe I get paid to speak into your lives, hang out with you, and act stupid!” “I have the best job ever!” Letting go…not for the faint of heart, but the best thing ever. Giving your live to Christ and saying “Here I am! Use me! Not my will, but your will!” It will change your live forever. So what do you say? Are you ready to live a life full or purpose and destiny? Take it from someone who has been on both sides of the coin, it is so worth it. So what are you waiting for?
